Abstract

This paper presents the history and development of the University ot the Philippines School of Library and Information Studies (UP SLIS). The UP SLIS operates within the core mandate and principles of UP, and is driven to carry out its responsibilities as an academic institution within the larger LIS community. The school recognizes and stays true to its role in nation-building by providing quality LIS education centered on honor, excellence, and service to the Filipino people.
