Humans and Machines on Social Media and Fake News
A Review of Two Books
Keywords:
social media, fake news, artificial intelligenceAbstract
This is a review of two books. One is by Christopher Bail entitled Breaking the Social Media Prism: How to Make our Platforms Less Polarizing, and the other is by Noah Giansiracusa entitled How Algorithms Create and Prevent Fake News: Exploring the Impacts of Social Media, Deepfakes, GPT-3, and More. The two books were chosen because they provide perspectives useful in LIS in understanding humans and machines on social media and fake news. This review argues that LIS has something to offer which was not covered by the two books.
